Warm greetings! hoping that life is treating you with GOOD HEALTH, JOY and CONTENTMENT. As for Marcus and myself, we are keeping fine and would like to share some photos with you that we took last month from our trips, presenting my show once again on the luxury cruise liner Ms Deutschland. We sailed for one week this time after our flight to Rome, docking up in "Monte Carlo" for a couple of days before we headed back home, departing from Canne.
Even now, I could be still in Monte Carlo especially enjoying the "Grand Prix" that took place two days ago but had to board our flight back to Germany to catch another flight, destination Siberia one day later for another two shows. To sum up everything, my team and I had a BLAST on and off stage!
The other few shots with me in the black crocodile skin dress (Made by Dagmar Engelbrecht) during my "Boney M" days and Marcus beside me, as well as one with Marcus and Martin Slechta (MSP Recording Studio) was a Red Carpet evening at the "Best Western Premier hotel" in MOA -Berlin. taking part in an Italian evening. We were invited by the manager Paolo Massaracchia. That was also an enjoyable evening!
At this point, let me proudly convey that my "Double CD" of 40 tracks is finished after we started working on it since September 2012, until last week. Mind you, during our globe trotting we fitted in studio time accordingly which worked out superbly.
Before the release of this beautiful piece of work, my team and I intend to make a video for my current single "You Can`t Fight While you`re Dancing". Let me hope that you are enjoying it to the full and keep tuned in for the video. Do try and spread the word around for my "Dance For Peace Movement" It`s full time for "Global Peace".

First and foremost I`m sincerely hoping that everybody are in good spirits, getting ready to caress our two festive weeks.
Reflecting back on this year, we the people of this universe have experienced a lot of un- settlement that has irrupted the entire globe, one way or the other. Natural disasters, Uprisings or disturbing WARS!
Many innocent lives have been taken again and again day by day and then we can feel so helpless and indeed wonder when will there be “PEACE” for everybody here on earth.
Never-the-less, nothing can rock my POSITIVE frame of mind, which has guided me during my entire life thus far. There will be a calm after all of these storms.
Let`s lift up our heads, push our shoulders back and bring in our “New Year” 2012 with inner PEACE and a smile on our faces.

I know that most of you are wondering when my upcoming CD will be published and if at all finished with the recordings. YES! YES! the latter is reality. It was completed a couple of months ago.
Sharing with you the facts that since my "Boney M" days, I`ve not approached record labels with my "Solo Work" but decided to do so now at this stage of my career. On the other hand, this route is taking more time than the DOWNLOAD route. I`m in the process of that and is aiming for it to be published before the festive season begins.
You`ll be getting fifteen tracks, also with Marcus introducing his vocal skills on a few of our calaboration as writing partners over the years. This is a very diverse CD and we had fun in the making.
Let`s join hands in prayers that another dream of mine will come through, like all my lifetime dreams and goals. You are going to enjoy so SIT TIGHT!!!

Music As Cultural Diplomacy - The Strength of Song: Keynote Address and Live Concert by Marcia Barrett
You might be wondering where this beautiful place is. Well, after nearly thirty hours of flying one way, changing different airlines and waiting around for our connecting flights to our destination, I would like to share the knowledge of what my team and I gathered during our trip to MIZORAM.
Our concert was in the capital Aizawl. This is still in India by the way - South East so to speak. It is one of the most remote cities in India. On this note I would like to go into a more depthier wand of realization with what a lot of people take for granted with their level of civilization that they are LUCKY to have. In life`s beautiful and privileged journey, Iv`e detected a few reasons why we the people on this planet EARTH have very little time for each other. There are always more questions than answers and why? because we have not really spent time to figure out and rectify what in our everyday lives is going wrong and what we can do within our power to make life somewhat better for another human being. YES! YES! instead we are too busy excercising HATERED, GLUTTONY, SELFISHNESS, PREJUDICES, un-necessary EGO SPINS with so-called ready made powers to try and be-little fellow men, also the never ending compititions with each other that always lead into FEAR and most crucially DISASTER. I live by "LIVE & LET LIVE".
I`m quite fortunate that I was invited to perform "Boney M" songs in MIZORAM and left over twenty thousand people joyful, except for the five people who got injured with broken arms and legs from the result of a human stampede. Our show had to be stopped for safety reasons after the fourth song for half an hour. After that the show continued peacefully and enjoyably. It was nice to see the smiling faces of our MIZO FANS which left us happy as well. Prior to our concert we visited a "Presbyterian Hospital" where you can view on my pictures section. The same day we also visited AIDS VICTIMS in the hospice section of that hospital who had a jam session singing, playing their guitars and other instruments to welcome us. Very moving indeed. We also visited an orphanage where every child received an autograph personally from me and was very happy, likewise myself. OK dears, let me continue my mission which I enjoy so much. Before I go, I hope that you have seen and read my interview with the JAMAICAN paper "OBSERVER" I must correct Kevin in the second paragraph when he wrote that prior to we four "ORIGINALS" their was a studio line up. What he should have said is that other people auditioned for the job who didn`t get it. I have not shared studio time for so many albums and CDs with the people he mentioned. On the other hand Maizie got her post which also contributed to Boney M`s image and success.

TIT`S THE SEASON! PEACE AND LOVE!!!
CHRISTMAS 2009 - NEW YEAR 2010.
Warm greetings my dear FANMILY, FRIENDS, FAITHFUL SUPPORTERS and of course WELL - WISHERS. It is always a pleasure for me to sit down each year at this time especially and talk to you through my notes. It is an emotional experience for me going into depth with my feelings knowing that you will be reading the contents of my thoughts. I`m always feeling your spiritual presence which is a blessing that I`ll forever cherish. How have you been keeping? I`m hoping that your order of each and every day is to ENJOY life to the fullest. Even the shocks that are thrown upon us in our day to day lives can bring forth POSITIVENESS. Yes indeed!
Looking back on 2009, for me it is a good year and it looks very bright until the 31st of the month. During the summer, from the end of July until the beginning of October I was faced again to battle for my life with another attack of illhealth. Some of you might have heard about it owing to the fact that I had to cancel a few shows spontaneously to go under an eight to ten hours operation and then the healing process which was not easy. Professor H.J.Buhr and his skilled team at the Charite` - Campus Benjamin Franklin Klinik in Berlin performed the miraculous operation and took care of me for two weeks. May God
bless and keep all physicians, nurses and all the different staff that hospitals need to tend for our needs with loving care, prolonging our lives. Guess what? I`m back on my feet 100% and GOD gave me the greenlight to brush off myself and continue my mission as a "Musical Ambassador" globally. You know me, the Marcia Barrett - I don`t play. Where there is a will there is a way. Let me convey that by the spring of next year, I`ll be recording some new tracks for an EXCITING CD. I can`t wait to smoke those tracks. HA! HA! HAAAAAAA!!!
Since October my team and I presented our show in "Moldova" and Oldenburg here in Germany, where Marcus met his longtime friends from the EQUALS. You will see a snapshot of us together under my pictures section. In fact there are a few more pictures that my photographer Marcus James and I developed from an enjoyable photoshoot last week. Thanks darling - you did a great job as usual. (smile) By the time you read this note my team and I will be in India again presenting our show. I`ll tell you more about our trip when we get back OK?
To round things off I would like to give a special THANK YOU to the people whose support has injected an extra surge of power in my life by being there for me during good and bad times. They are Daniel Diezi, Danni Lange, Robert Summers who are the three people who created my websites that people have complimented me on over and over again. Bhairav Shanth who has brought me to India so many times to present my show. My backbone on stage during these four years with my show that Iv`e re-established myself globally for the work that Iv`e done with "Boney M" are a super treat. "MERRY CHRISTMAS" and a "HAPPY NEW YEAR" 2009.
Hello, Hello, H E L L O O O O!
Fanmily - Wellwishers - Old and New Supporters!
Here I am again greeting you GLOBALLY during this festive season, for us to celebrate another year passing us by, into another NEW YEAR with "POSITIVE" expectations. Even though our world is somewhat perturbed at the moment, with endless WARS, TERRORISM, GENOCIDE, STARVATION and ECONOMIC DEPRESSION, we still have to focus on our balance as human beings having to cope with these devastating outlets, thrown upon us by our same mankind.
At this point I`d like to share with you some of my activities since autumn into this last month of the year. It has been a FANTASTIC year indeed. Iv`e had shows in Canada, Armenia, Russia, India (Twice) Dubai and Kazakhstan. Here I`m exibiting some photos captured during these travels. I also had a couple of interviews which highlighted my PR corner, for example an interview with the radio station CJSO in Guebec - Canada. This was conducted by Lue Dononcourt on the 17th of October. The other one was with Peter Robertson for the "Daily Express" which was published on the 16th of this month, entitled How I battled For My Life. I`m hoping that with this article Iv`e given some people a sense of hope and "FIGHTING POWER" for LIFE! I also did a radio interview for HR 4 with Herman here in Germany. It was broadcasted on my birthday which was a lot of FUN! A couple of my shows were for CHARITY EVENTS. I was approached by Dr. P. Raghu Ram the founder of the "USHALAKSHMI Breast Cancer Foundation" in Hyderabad - India to take part, which was a honour and at the same time somewhat touching, being a breast cancer "SURVIVOR" twice. After that successful evening, my team and I boarded our flight the next day to Dubai where we presented another show for charity. This time was for the "Autism Kids" and it was also a successful evening indeed. Now I have more knowledge of what this unfortunate illness is all about. The following day Marcus and I accepted an invitation to visit the "Dubai Autism Center" and met some of the kids. We were both awarded Certificate of Appreciation by the General Director - Mohammad Al Emadi. Photos are displayed in our new photo collage.
By January 2009 my new single - a REMIX from my "SURVIVAL" CD will be published. Keep checking my webpage and my fanclub page for the exact release date.OK? After that I`ll hit you with more remixes leading into my New CD. HA! HA! HA! Are you ready?
Another piece of EXCITING news is about our new record label "XOAH RECORDS" which has been set up by one of my main men, Daniel Diezi. This will enable us to publish recordings after recordings. Great classy work again Daniel. Thank you most awfully dear.

Let me also thank everybody who has taken the time in signing my "GUESTBOOK" over the years, expressing your admiration and joy in listening to the work and presentation of "BONEY M", keeping the sound ALIVE for over three decades.I`m also very chuffed with your comments regarding my "SOLO" work since I emerged with my project.

out there on the market who are capitalizing from our hard work, including this said Sheyla Bonnick claiming that she was an original member of our setup. Alike herself these unknown rip-offs are taking our bread from our table, even though they did not contribute to the sound and unique presentation of "BONEY M". The shows they are presenting around the globe is indeed a disaster and must be banned immediately. Let me also add that not only these parasites are to be taken into account for but also these cheap agents who are booking them. It`s a mockery and disgrace tarnishing our good reputation, that we have created and brought to success over these years.
On a more pleasant note I would like to send out my gratitude to my team who are constantly on the road with me presenting my shows in a professional manner. A BIG thank you to my female vocalists who are Sina, Francy, Tuti, Julia, Peti and Liz Cunningham. To my SOUND ENGINEERS Ralf and Peddy. Ralf is also my guitarist and vocalist. Udo is on keyboards as well as vocals, on drums Sven is responsible to lead the tightness. My two dancers are Filippo and Isabell and last but not least my Marcus is on bass, percussion and lead male vocals. Valentin, it was great seeing you in Berlin. Hope the fans are enjoying the interview I gave you. Thank you for the christmas card and keep up the good work with your "Boney M" website from Spain.

Barrett fights breast cancer
Marcia Barrett sang her way into the hearts of people through songs like ‘Daddy Cool,’ ‘Ma Baker’ and ‘Rasputin.’ Years later her songs still manage to rock youngsters. But there is more to this lead singer of Boney M, than her melodious voice. She is a breast cancer victim, who fought for survival with utter determination and grit. Barrett will be in the city soon to perform at the Pink Ribbon Nite organised by Dr P. Raghu Ram, the CEO of Ushalakshmi Breast Cancer Foundation.
The singer says she is passionate about the cause of breast cancer awareness. "When invited to perform by Dr Raghu Ram, I could not refuse as I have been a victim of this disease twice," says Barrett.
For someone who has been actively involved in sports all her life and has led a healthy lifestyle, being diagnosed with breast cancer came as a shock. But the courageous lady dealt with it bravely. "At first I thought to myself, ‘Oh really! But I came to terms with it because the diagnosis was a fact. All I wanted to do was to start with my treatment," she says.
Barrett did start the treatment, but her life was turned upside down after that. "Life after the diagnosis became a turmoil. I was thrown off my daily routine as a healthy person. The treatment was quite time consuming and lengthy," she says.
However, she confesses that it was her disease that gave her a mission in life. Says Barrett, "After experiencing this temporary detour in life, I wanted to help cancer patients worldwide. In my little way, I wanted to comfort them and restore their belief that they will be healthy again."
Music has been touted as a great healer and so it was in the case of Barrett too. "Music did expedite the healing process. While recuperating I composed quite a few songs and worked on my not yet published magazine Survival, which is also my autobiography. I was also inspired to publish my CD Survival which recounts my experience," says Barrett.
Her journey has been a difficult one but she emerged triumphant at the end because of her strong faith in God and a desire to live. "The love of life, the love for your family and remembering how much you are loved by others and the love for your job gives you the strength to fight. So trust your physicians and let them do their job," she advises cancer patients.

I`m up and about with my constant Co.P(you know who) rubbing shoulders or as the terminology used ever so often as mingling. Yes indeed, that was the case when Marcus and I were invited to attend the 34th PKM SOMMER-BIWAK in the KRONPRINZENPALAIS
in Berlin. Parlamentskreis Mittelstand Der CDU / CSU - Bundestagsfraktion. As you can see on our invitation the event was on the 24th June 2008.
The evening was quite vibrant and the HIGHLIGHT for me was when I met and shook hand with Bundeskazlerin der Bundesrepublik Deutschland, Dr. Angela Merkel MDB. I was pleasantly surprised how very warm she was. The camaras were busy clicking away but I guess that the journalists, who got the shots kept them for themselves. HA! HA! HA! HA!
Nevermind, there will be other times when I`ll get them to take the shots with my camara. I
did just that in capturing other photos of the evening.
Just look at me enjoying that cigar - JOKE! I was only posing with it and found it rather funny, smoking away without it being lit as I did in the "Ma Baker" video. Remember? The lovely lady who was rolling the cigars was from Brazil. The other photos are of other guests at the event.
On the 27th of June we had the pleasure of meeting YING from the act YING YANG TWINS
Now that was a hilarious evening. He was sooooo funny that laughter was the topping of the day. Unfortunately we couldn`t make it for their show in Berlin that night but will definitely do so on another occasion. YOU ROCK YING! Congratulations on your success and thanks for the autograph.
In the meantime we are on our way to Erevan - Armenia for a show set for the 18th instant. Will definitely take some photos. OK?

Are you feeling IRIE? I am. Oh! by the way IRIE is a little Jamaican expression which means GOOD - VIBRANT. Got it? Good (smile)
As you know that there is another vital side to an artiste`s commitments in our business, which is the promotional input. Sometimes it can get a little bit hectic but I love that part of it too mind you and I`m catching up on the years that went by, whilst I was battling for my life. Thank God for the internet, which enables one to keep in touch with the world at anytime. Let me give you an update of what Iv`e been up to during the last six weeks.
The interview on "Dragonland Radio, with Markus Schultz via internet on the 24.5.08 between 8 - 10p.m. German time was enjoyable, even though I had to make some corrections with FACTS. You know what I mean? I was actually scheduled for a twenty minutes chat but stayed on for Markus`s full two hours air time. I hope that those of you who had the chance to listen in, enjoyed it. Thank you Markus for the invitation and will definitely pop in again.
I had another EXCITING telephone interview for BBC RADIO 2 on the 5th instant with DJ. Stuart Maconie. This was at 6.15p.m. GMT (7.15p.m. German time) The LIVE show was
entitled "THE VINYL COUNTDOWN" of which "Boney M" was included in the TOP 5 of the
"KILLER POP FACT" and was selected the NUMBER ONE with "Rivers Of Babylon"
"Brown Girl In The Ring" for sales in 1978, making the single officially 3 X platinum in Britain
alone. It`s also good to know that this show usually have up to 5.5 million listeners. The interview was nice and fulfilling.
Now, on the next day which was the 6th instant, I was invited to be on the JURY panel at a
beauty pageant in Berlin. The event was "Miss. & Mister Land Berlin 2008", which was held at the "ADAGIO" discotheque located at Marlene - Dietrich Platz 1. I enjoyed that immensely.
Last but not least, my surprises are just around the corner, STAY TUNED! I myself can`wait

Let me take this moment in THANKING Mr. Bhairav Shanth and his entire team for making this thought into a POSITIVE reality. Another THANKS is extending to the students of (IIPM) their support of awareness on global warming as a part of the AMAZE-2008 spectacular. Big RESPECT to the band AURKO who presented their lovely Indi-pop numbers and covers from Hindi film songs. ARYA`S karaoke was enchanting. Fanmily----- Wellwishers, can you hear me? Yes, Yes I know you are hearing
me because I can feel your pulses injecting good, positive vibes in
every move I`m making with my "Solo Launch".
I`m thrilled to
announce to you my up-coming shows in Canada and America which starts
on the 30th of May 2002 until the 9th of June 2002. My band and I can`t
wait to set foot on stage, driving those "Boney M" hits to
the MAX. I will of course do a few tracks from my CD. "Survival"

C.etc, etc, etc. Vick Alexzander--------Drummer. Vick is a POWER HOUSE
drummer and have worked with TONY RICH, BRICK, GOODIE MOB etc, etc,
etc. Marcus James-------- Bassist. Marcus as you`d know by now is a
very gifted musician, producer, song writer who amazes me all the time
when he picks up his instrument.He is EDDY GRANT`S former bassist also
worked with MIKE HUG the drummer from Manfred Man etc, etc, etc.
Zosia Barkley--------
Vocalist. She is better known as PINKY, isn`t that cute? Well, Pinky
has been a backup vocalist for CELINE DION and many other established
singers.
Angelque Carey------Vocalist.Angelque is a superb vocalist, who has
contributed in many studio sessions and live performances. Even though
most of my fans are not in America, I`m looking forward to meeting Bonnie
from Rumania who is very dear to me and Robert from Poland who is quite
special. They have supported me since the "Boney M" days and
now with my launch.If any other member of my fanmily happens to be living
or visiting in the cities that I`ll be performing, it would be most
delightful meeting you.

“MY
TRIP BACK TO GERMANY”
(February ---- March 2002)
Fanmily, Wellwishers!
How are you feeling?
I hope fine. As for Marcus and myself we are feeling just GREAT after
our trip to Germany, lasting over a month.
As I told you before that I was invited to take part on a “Charitable
Event” in aid of blind children from Rumania, host the Hon-General-Konsul
of Rumania, Alex Jacob.
This event was an evening to remember, firstly it was for a GOOD CAUSE,
secondly to know that my performance on that evening, February 14th
2002 helped some children in need.
GOD BLESS YOU KIDS!!!
After a difficult start, changing at least four microphones before
one could hear what I had to deliver on the fifth one, I must say
that my team and I are very proud when I received an exciting “STANDING
OVATION”. I felt good indeed for many reasons, including the
fact that the audience met me with wide open arms, even though they
did not see me for over twelve years, on any stage in Germany ------
let alone as a “SOLOIST”. You know what I mean? Ha! Ha!
Ha! Ha! It was after this event in Bad Kreuznach that all hell broke
loose, in a nice way so to speak. Marcus and I was in for a SHOCK!!!
because all we had planned was this show, but a whole PR tour took
place after that. We had T.V., Radio and Printed Media coverage almost
every day in different cities, up until the night before we boarded
our flight back to Florida. This reminded me so much of the Boney
M days, which I’m ready for “ONE MORE TIME”. Thanks
to my team.
Another Highlight of our PR TOUR is our studio sessions preparing
other REMIX VERSIONS of a few tracks on “SURVIVAL”. Look
out for the release dates OK?
I would like to apologize for not being able to reply to my bunch
of E-Mails, owing to the fact that there is actually no time right
now to do so. We are now preparing for our Canadian and American Tour,
leading us into our German Tour by Summer. All dates will be posted
on my WebPage, so keep on checking.
Always THANKING YOU for your sincere support in my work for sooo many
years. Another BIG THANK YOU GERMANY! Where I began my career as a
“Soloist” thirty years ago and now continuing as a “Soloist”

First and foremost,
how is your “New Year 2002” treating you so far? I’m
hoping with GOOD HEALTH, GOOD VIBES enhancing only the POSITIVE. In
other words, to put it simply. I hope splendidly indeed. As for me,
I’m feeling GREAT!
After my show
on “New Years’s Morning”, which was a fantastic event,
I’m thrilled and feel somewhat honoured to be invited to take
part in another “Charitable Event” in aid of blind children
in Rumania. This event is entitled “AUGENLIGHT”. For those
of you who do not understand GERMAN, I understand “EYESIGHT”.
How Vital!!! On the 14th of February, a lot of talented people will
be performing in “BAD KRUZNACH ---- GERMANY, including Marcus
and myself, in aid of these blind children, who could be given back
their eyesight with one operation raised from the funds on this evening.
I cannot wait to perform on this stage for such a GOOD CAUSE, knowing
that in every month, at least one child can have an operation, hoping
to see again or to see for the very first time.

“A
MINI INTERVIEW”
After my show on “NEW YEAR’s” morning in NEW YORK.
On Arriving back
home after my show at “Rasputin Night Club” I thought to
myself that, bringing in the New Year with my first show after 12
years of TRIALS & TRIBULATIONS, preparing my “Solo Launch”
then healing ---- preparing again, went through healing process one
more time, pushed on with preparations, this is a GOOD OMEN. Yes!
Yes! Indeed 2002 and all the many many more New Years to come, I’m
ready to receive you with an open Mind, Soul, Spirit & Body, full
of eternal PEACE, LOVE and never ending GRADITUDE.
I was asked by
Daniel Diezi (my manager) to convey in a short interview, via E-Mail
as to the happening which I’d like to share with you. Here goes:

Barrett, you gave the first concert in years. What feeling was
that?
Answer
It
was a FANTASTIC feeling indeed for more than one reason. First
and Foremost I felt BLESSED that after a devastating struggle
for my life as well as for my career. After so many years, I was
able to SING nad PERFORM again, starting off my Mission on “New
Year’s Morning” at 2 am to an audience who loves the
work I did as a vital vocalist for Boney M.. Secondly, I was sooooo
THRILLED that Marcus was this time on stage with me (not only
in studio) taking care of some of the bass lines as well as vocals.
A wonderful feeling indeed.

did the concert go?
Answer
The
concert was a lovely success. Hot and Energetic. HA! HA! HA!

You
played in New York, but America was the only big market where
Boney M couldn’t really break into. So that might have been
a bit difficult?
Answer
Owing
to the fact that Boney M was not promoted in the States, this
concert was another POSITIVE insight knowing that a lot of foreigners
who are our fans reside here. This particular event was for our
Russian Fans, who have not forgotten our visit to their country
back in the seventies. In other words, the concert ws not at all
difficult, it was FUN! FUN! FUN!

club you played is called Rasputin . . . I’m sure you played
Rasputin?
Answer
Yes!
Yes! The dinner club is called “Rasputin” Does that
ring a bell? HA! HA! HA! of course we played “Rasputin”,
and I tell you what, we were not the only ones singing----the
entire club was singing and dancing. OH! what a morning.

kind of songs did these people most like?
Answer
They
loved every song we played for them, form the beginning with “Take
The Heat Off Me” to the last song which was “Rasputin”.
Their dancers and singers even joined us on stage for the finale.
An event we will never forget.

Greetings to all of you. I`m hereby wishing you a "Merry, Splendid
Christmas" and a Healthy and Prosperous "New Year".
Another year have flown by rapidly with great achievement from my
team and I. We`ve had again---unfortunately a few obsticles that we
eliminated so fast, like a switch of a duck`s tail. HA! HA! HA! HAaaaaaa.
I`m so pleased and excited to convey to you that, after all these
years my first Live Concert will be on "New Year`s Eve Night"
in Brooklyn---New York at Rasputin Night Club. 2670 Coney Island Avenue.

First, let me say again how much I've appreciated your support, best
wishes and warm greetings through the Email and letters. It has been
a blessing to me and Marcus. Now, it is time, however, for me to focus
all my time and energy on perfecting my future performances, planning
upcoming tours and other surprises. I will no longer be able to respond
personally to your correspondence - it just takes up too much time!
Don't worry, I'll be back in the spotlight soon. Just have patience
and from time to time I'll fill you in on what's coming up.
I
want to address another important issue that has come to my attention.
Recently, I've received several requests, from fans asking if they
could rewrite my bio. For this reason I've made the decision to remove
it from my Website. I am sure you will understand my request to leave
it unaltered and respect my decision. Any use of my bio without my
permission is unacceptable. So, that's it for now. We've got to get
back to work and get busy!

Marcia
Barrett came to worldwide fame as an active member of the super group
Boney M. who are already one of the enduring legends of the disco
era. Among their biggest hits were Daddy Cool, Sunny, Belfast,
Ma Baker, Rasputin, El Lute, and the absolute Chart breaker Rivers
of Babylon / Brown Girl In The Ring which stayed at the top of
the UK charts for 5 weeks and spent a total of 40 weeks in the charts.
Another chart topper was the seasonal Mary's Boy Child that
had a factory outlet of 175,000 copies a day for four weeks alone
in the UK!
Their albums "Take The Heat Off Me", "Love For Sale", "Nightflight
To Venus", "Oceans Of Fantasy", "The Magic Of Boney M." and "Boonoonoonoos"
also hit the top of the charts around the world. "Nightflight To Venus"
became the best selling album for the group and one of the best selling
albums in Europe ever. In the UK the album stayed for 65 weeks in
the charts...
Boney
M. had a unique sound which was captured perfectly. Marcia lent her
incredible voice to songs like Take The Heat Off Me", the funky "Lovin
Or Leavin", "Belfast", the sexy "Silent Lover" and the classy "Never
Change Lovers In The Middle Of The Night". Her voice can be heard
distinctively on all of Boney M's backing vocals as well. Marcia's
ability to use her voice to set a certain dramatic aspect to the songs,
combined with her live performance and her natural beauty brought
her crowds of fans. Not forgetting her performances of "King Of The
Road", "No Time To Loose" and the Top Ten Hit "We Kill The World".
However
Marcia's career didn't start with Boney M.. Already at the age of seven
she had the honor to conduct a childrens orchestra and choir in the
world's third largest theater in Kingston, Jamaica where she originally
is from. In 1963, at age eleven she and her family moved to England
where the future looked brighter than in the Caribbean.
In the late sixties Marcia got "discovered" and took up an offer to
dance in a
discotheque near Hamburg. One evening she spontaneously reached for
the microphone and sang "Oh Happy Day", never realizing that this would
be the start of a phenomenal world wide career. For the next five years
she toured around Germany in smoky discotheques, beach parties and little
galas and performed her repertoire which included "Belfast" (a song
that was specially written for her) and later on a big Boney M. hit.
Even she had no record deal back then she even performed on many German
TV shows. Then in 1976 came Boney M.
When Boney M. decided to quit after 15 years of success, they sold around
150 million records and collected more than 800 golden, platinum and
silver discs. As well as other awards like the Carl-Allen Award for
being the most successful act of 1978 in the UK. One of their highlights
was an invitation to perform for Her Majesty Queen Elisabeth II. In
1978 they became the first Western pop group to perform in Moscow, they
were allowed to play in the Soviet Union by Bredshnev personally. They
also held the record to be the first pop group who filmed a video gig
on the red square in Moscow. At the end of their career Boney M. had
15 Nr. 1 Chart hits, and countless other hits and gold and platinum
albums around the world.
Now at the start of a new century Marcia Barrett is back! After having
fought cancer twice, she is ready to rock. Fans around the world are
celebrating the release of her long anticipated solo recording entitled
"Survival". The album is co-produced by her and her husband Marcus Norman
James who also plays the bass on the album. "Survival" is a deeply intense,
very personal piece of work based on her recent past. Though the songs
are anything but depressing and disillusional, rather they are full
of spirit and hope. She elegantly changes from housy dance tracks to
reggae, from rock to ballads. Survival opens with the energizing "Strange
Rumors" and continues with many surprises. Seeing Is Believing should
be a huge "club" hit and contains elements of opera.
But besides the new CD Marcia looks very forward to performing live
on the stages all around the world again, reaching out to her fans from
her days with Boney M. and to her new fans as well.

Barrett will be in the city soon to perform at the Pink Ribbon Nite organised by Dr P. Raghu Ram, the CEO of Ushalakshmi Breast Cancer Foundation.
